Since I retired on December 1, 2008 I have been lax in writing in my blog. I didn't want to continue under this one since I no longer participate in any walking program and no longer work for the University.
Therefore, I am moving to a new blog - Susan's Exercise Blog so I can continue to write about my activities and hopefully this will keep me exercising daily.
My new blog is at http://susansexercise.blogspot.com/

Vacation
I have had a wonderful two weeks visiting with friends and family. We visited with our friends Julie, Sue, Mary and Ellen in Ft. Myers for 5-6 days, part of which we spent on Sanibel Island. We went to the Ding Darling NWR each day to bird and animal watch. Saw lots of birds and we also saw some racoons and I saw a black snake. Ate well, had fun laughing, shelling, swimming.
Then flew to Tallhassee via Atlanta to visit my brother and his family. My older niece, Christy, graduated summa cum laude from Flagler College and also got a departmental award (can't tell how proud I am) on Dec. 14th. She and her sister, Amanda, took us on various local sightseeing trips. Today my brother, Pete, took us on a tour of some of the houses his company is working on. He is an interior finish carpenter and has a crew of 3 waiting on houses to be completed enough to do their work. I always like to go see the houses they work on. One that will not be ready for him until February is 17,000 square feet of heated space. That does not include the two courtyards, pool, patio etc. One two car garage with space above and one three car garage! Another house is for Ricky Carmichael the motocross rider. We like that one, but it too was large and the landscaping was all with palms. They also have a pool, hot tub, slides etc. The other two were not as large but all were more than 3500 square feet.
My brother's house is probably less than 2,000 square feet.
Finally got warm in Tallahassee so today I am in a tank top. Last night we exchanged Christmas gifts and today packed ours up and sent them home in the box we mailed them here in.
Tomorrow we head back to 13 degrees, but I am ready for my own bed. We have been staying at a Travel Place extended stay hotel. It is mostly used for transient workers and people waiting to move into permanent housing so we kind of stood out. But it was clean and comfortable for what we needed and a lot less than a motel.

A great day
Retired today and then went to watch the women's basketball championship game at the Great Alaska Shootout. And what a squeeker it was. We won by one point. A nail bitter for sure, but an exciting game.
Not much to add to this.
